I dropped this post on LinkedIn around 3-weeks ago and it exploded.
However, it exploded for a couple of reasons. You can basically duplicate this thought framework and just apply it to whatever lead magnet or LinkedIn post you have.
Here is a step-by-step guide on how you can drive 2713 lead magnet sign-ups like I did.
Here is a screenshot from Tally for proof.
Step 1: Think about the end-user’s dream outcomes
If you can develop a solid understanding of what is the most important thing to your prospect/client base then you are onto a winner.
What do they want to achieve? What does success look like? What is their social currency?
Step 2: Think of all the hurdles stopping them from achieving those outcomes then single of 2/3 the main hurdles.
Get a whiteboard and a pen and note it down. Take time to REALLY understand this, or even do some more market research, ask your clients, and ask your user base. I might create a Google sheet template for this. Comment on the post if that would be useful.
Is it money? Is it knowledge? Is it scarcity in the talent-pool to solve this problem? etc…
Step 3: Think of your best ever offer you could give someone and then make it low cost.
My best offer would be a lifetime of outbound for free forever. But it’s not scalable, is it. I would be out of business by tomorrow. Begin to create ways you could make this “best offer” achievable in a super low-cost manner.
Heighten the value, minimise the cost. Time is also a cost remember!
Step 4: Create your offer, make it boring and feature-based.
Don’t think about marketing or sales. Just create your offer and focus on the deliverables and quality of content.
Rewrite this content if you need to, make it really good.
Step 5: Turn “how you can” into “how I did”
People are lazy, they don’t want tips. They want systems and frameworks that are proven. Do the thinking for them, and make it super easy for them to engage.
Now turn your boring content into something exciting that people want to read
Step 6: Make a headline that includes the social currency
Ensure people see the most important thing to them first. Note I included “outbound machine” “20+ meetings” “2x, 3x”.
Everyone is results-driven at the end of the day, they want to see their dream outcome and a method in which they can hop the hurdles.
Step 7: Tag your inspirations
There is nothing wrong with being transparent about the knowledge you consumed to build what you did. If you tag people for no reason then that’s annoying. If you create something and say they inspired you then they are likely to notice this and respond.
If they respond and they have a good LinkedIn follower base then this will jump your reach and increase the chances of a viral post.
Step 8: Use LinkedIn to your advantage
As far as I know, if LinkedIn can see likes and lots of comments, they will push your post to their wider network. I believe in the first hour, this is where the decision is made.
Make sure you ask your audience to engage on your post, obviously I did this with a little bit of gate-keeping.
Step 9: Throw your darts until you hit the bullseye
Aim to create a high-value piece of content every week and try, to replicate this formula until it sticks. I had about 10-20 epic fails before I got the reach that I wanted. This works if you put in the work.
Don’t go through the motions, make the offer great and make it REALLY worth people’s time to drop in their email.
Apply these 9 steps for the next 6 months and I guarantee you, you will get success.
Side note: I’ve just onboarded a new Clay specialist to Traction, we are expanding and are able to cater for 3 more clients. If your team needs an outbound machine that can deliver meetings consistently then have a chat with me.
