How I scraped and built a targeting list from a single Google Maps search.

I’m part of Lemlist’s outbound community. I like to be useful and help others to improve their outbound approach.

This specific individual was trying to create a targeting list of import/export companies and deliver messaging to them for their staffing business.

We found that companies usually want to work with them when they have run a shipment in the past 12 months and their primary provider wasn’t available. This was the key trigger.

We used the Clay to;

  • Scrape a Google Maps search of import/export organisations from New York,

  • Find the company name and domain.

  • Insert a different tools API to verify if they had run a shipment in the past 12 months

  • Find their contact info

  • Push this to a Lemlist campaign

This would usually take around 1 week, if we properly set this up, we could run this fully on auto-pilot. Running messaging to both the prospect’s LinkedIn and email.

This was obviously a very complicated example, obviously, there would be some easier use cases in here.
